Neptune is a planet with 14 moons and is classified by scientists as a gas giant, since its atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium, and methane. A period of rotation on the planet lasts 16 hours. On the other hand, a period of revolution, also known as a year, lasts 164 years long. The average climate on Neptune is -353 degrees Fahrenheit. Neptune is known as the boundary of the solar system, therefore everything behind the planet is known as a Trans-Neptunian object. Another interesting fact about Neptune is that the planet’s color is from red light absorbed from the methane gas in its atmosphere.
