4 Nov 1929 Jahr - The Great Depression Effect on Women

Beschreibung:

As men lost their jobs in the GREAT depression the women became the primary breadwinners in order to support their household. Alongside their paid work they were still expected to maintain the household.
They were hired because; their wages were slightly cheaper, it was easier women to find work such as the unskilled work like maids which were seen as female jobs. Their jobs weren't affected as much as the industrial or manufacturing jobs that were deemed as male jobs.
