The battle of Lexington and Concord was the first major battle of the American Revolution. The British army began marching from Boston towards the town of Concord to capture an armory in the area. The American forces heard of the attack and Paul Revere was sent along with two other messengers to warn American military leaders. The Americans struck the British outside of Lexington and after a brief battle the British retreated and the Americans had won the first battle of the war
