25 Apr 1846 Jahr - Mexican-American War
Beschreibung:
Urbanization and industrialization contributed to people migrating to cities. Manifest destiny is a philosophy promoted by James K. Polk as he wanted more land for America. He was able to gain more land through the Mexican-American War. The Mexican-American War started after disputes between Mexico and America over the southern border of Texas. Polk, who wanted the war so America could gain more land, sent troops into Mexico on April 25, 1846 to lure Mexican troops back to the U.S. This was to give the appearance of Mexico attacking the U.S. After the war was over, the U.S. gained control of Utah, Nevada, California, western Colorado, and parts of Arizona and New Mexico as well as establishing the Rio Grande as the border in exchange for $15 million.
