29 Mai 1790 Jahr - Ratification of the US Constitution
Beschreibung:
The failure of the Articles of Confederation forced American politicians to gather at the Constitutional Convention, where leaders created a government based on a three branch system with elected officials. The government drew on enlightenment ideals such as Montesquieu’s framework of checks and balances and Voltaire’s demands for freedom of speech. It was also based on English common law and the bill of rights. While the debate over ratification created the foundations for modern American political parties—the Federalists and the Antifederalists, it also laid the groundwork for American government as seen today.
