The Pueblo revolt was a Native American uprising in Santa Fe against the Encomienda led by Chief Pope. The revolt was a strategy for giving more freedom to Natives. Unfortunately, twelve years after the revolt, in 1692, the Spanish recaptured New Mexico. One good result of the uprising was the end of the Encomienda, which delivered more religious freedom to Native Americans.
