Beschreibung:

Also known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Was first discovered in 2002 in China.

Symptoms:
Symptoms appear within 3 to 5 days after exposure. The beginning starts with a high fever. Other symptoms are aches, chills, diarrhea, dry coughing, and shortness of breath where these will develop over the course of a week. People may later develop pneumonia, respiratory failure, heart and live failure may occur. The symptoms can infect anyone who is exposed to the infection but the fatality rate dropped rangesd from 0-50% depending on the target population.

Treatment:
No current vaccine, but respiratory treatment is often the only way to assist the infected.

History:
-November 2002: First appeared and infected humans in the Guangdong province of southern China then later spread to other countries
-2003: SARS was identified
-2003: WHO organized emergency travel advisory about the disease identifying it as a “global threat”
