as a sign of peace and the end of the space race both the USSR and the USA launched a spacecraft into orbit with the intent to dock with one another. the american Apollo was launched with a Saturn 1B rocket and weighed 32751.87 pounds while the Soviet Soyuz was launched with a Sapwoord SS-6 with a longer upper stage and weighed 14991.43 pounds.
