The Patriot Act was put in place to deter the amount of terrorism in America. Specifically, improve the ability to discover terrorist groups and how quickly law enforcement would be able to react. This was a big effect of the terrorist attack on the twin towers. After 9/11 the government realized there must be a way we can prevent these acts from happening in our country.
