Scorchflower, now knowing about both Truestar and mooneyes, confronts Whitefeather about her attitude. She recalls how Whitefeather thought of her as lesser than all the other kits for no good reason, how she was always blamed for trouble, how she wasn't allowed to see her adoptive mother of her own accord, how she insulted her constantly for minor slip-ups, and how she blamed Owlpaw's death on her and her alone. She accused Whitefeather of hating mooneyes and suneyes and for seeing her as being the end product of all of Truestar's horrible choices. Whitefeather tries to brush her off, but Scorchflower demands a response, saying that all Whitefeather ever does is keep secrets from her. Whitefeather gets angry and tells her that she never should have existed, and that she was doing her a huge favor by raising her like that. Scorchflower disagrees and Snowstorm, who was eavesdropping agrees with Scorch and adds that Whitefeather essentially gave up on her the second she said she wanted to be a medicine cat. Scorchflower and Snowstorm walk out on Whitefeather together, before Snowstorm lets Scorchflower sleep in the medicine den. Scorchflower agrees and grabs a nest next to Goldfur, who heard the whole thing and is proud of her niece.
