Like SARS, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, is a coronavirus caused illness that causes fever, shortness of breath and coughing among other common symptoms like diarrhea and vomitting. The danger comes in it often going into more serious conditions such as pneumonia. In June a patient was sent to Hussein's hospital and died of pneumonia and rectal failure eleven days later.
