With the death of Muhammad, there is a division within the Islamic Empire. They need to choose a new successor, and there is a huge split between who should rule: Abu Bakr(closest friend and general for Muhammad) or Ali(son-in-law of Muhammad). This eventually led to the split of Islam which became known as the Sunni Shia split.
