Shortly after his return from Coldharbour, the Prophet unveils a staggering truth to Gondul:

That he himself is in fact Varen Aquilarios, the ex-Emperor, and the reason behind all of this happening.

Gondul wanted to both kill him and kneel to him, not knowing which to do. Varen explained his reasons for keeping it a secret all this time, and Gondul was sympathetic to each of them.

After several minutes of conversing about the sudden news, Gondul exited the Harborage, not knowing exactly where to go and what to do at this point.
