The Start of 5 minute 3-on-3 Overtime instead of 5 minute 4-on-4 Overtime
The Start of coach’s challenge: Like the NFL, if a coach thinks that the Officials should review a goal, then they get one challenge to do so. There is a twist. Every NHL team gets only one timeout a game, so like the NFL where if you lose a challenge you lose a timeout. If you win you keep the timeout. In the NHL if you lose the challenge then you lose your timeout and can’t use it for the rest of the game. If you win the challenge then you keep the timeout but you can’t challenge a call again and will be assessed a minor penalty for delay of game.
For a faceoff that’s not at centre ice will have to put his stick down first.
