12 Nov 1832 Jahr - 1832: Cholera Comes to New York
Beschreibung:
A city full of immigrants, especially Irish people in the slums of the city, n outbreak occurred in June of 1832 following bad sanitation practices and overuse of "collect ponds", water sources that were at best unfiltered and usually full of waste and garbage. Aaron Burr's attempt to privatize water, and his cutting of corners, allowed for cholera to spread more as he used collect pond water instead of the cleaner Bronx River.
