The Roman Colosseum is thought of as one of the most iconic pieces of Italian and European history. As the largest amphitheater ever built, for many years this structure was home to the infamous gladiator spectacles, as well as several other entertainment events.

It is also significant to Christianity as the location where many early Christians were martyred for refusing to revere the Roman gods--commonly by being fed to lions, or being forced to fight against trained killers.
