Se aprobó el estándar de cableado UTP categoría 6a (ANSI/TIA/EIA 568-B.2-10) , diseñado para frecuencias de hasta 500 MHz en distancias de hasta 100 m. Este estándar está pensado para 10 Gb/s Ethernet hasta el escritorio.
