Summary - Mussolini was overthrown by a disillusioned Italian population and the new Italian government surrenders to British and USA. Then Italy agreed to join the allies.

SIgnificance - Hitler freed Mussolini from imprisonment and set up a new goverment for him in the Northern Italy. This blocked allied poers to advance through Italy.
