The World Zionist Organization held its sixth meeting in switzerland to discuss the British offer to establish a Jewish self-governing homeland in British East Africa. With the Ottoman Sultan refusing a homeland in Palestine and the Russians cracking down of Jews in the empire, the vote passes. In 1904, a large chunk of land to the west of the Mau Forest in southwest Kenya is established as the Crown Colony of Zion.

Tens of thousands of Jews would flock to the colony over the years, with and even larger boom following the Dominion proclamation in 1907.
