The Fourteenth Amendment was written adopted on July 9th. The Fourteenth Amendment was written to define what a U.S citizen was. In summery, it said that all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.
