The Climber records the ARK team as passengers headed to the abyss.

The ARK team make it to Phi, but disagree about whether to launch the ARK and potentially destroy it in the journey. In a scuffle, Pedersen kills Catherine with a blow to the head. He claims it was an accident. (The user manual for the deep sea suits reminds users that the suits make them physically stronger.)

Ross writes in his log, “Some of the engineers returned from Phi. Apparently they postponed the ARK launch. They were all in a very foul mood and difficult to get any straight answers from. <...>”
