Frederick Sanger developed methods for determining the sequences for RNA. His work developed the “dideoxy” technique for DNA sequencing, which occurred around 1975. His method led to the discovery of the DNA sequence of bacteriophage fx, human mitochondrial DNA, and bacteriophage 1. His method has been improved and used in the Human Genome project in 1990.
