George Kennan, who was part of the American embassy in Moscow, sent an 8000-word telegram to the Department of State describing his views on the Soviet Union and American policy towards it. The long telegram was a highly influential factor of the future American policy of Containment. The long telegram is mostly related with the concept of espionage because it involved the discreet transfer of secret information.
