The USA officially recognized the independence of Israel under president Truman. This event marked the accomplishment of Zionism. However, this also marked the beginning of future violence. The Declaration of Independence was followed by Arab-Israeli War, which took place in the same year. The conflict over lands is still happening today (Israel; History).
