After Benjamin Franklin's kite experiment, he had finally found a way to absorb electric shocks which led to the invention of the lightning rod. The purpose for the kite experiment was to find out the unknown information about the nature of lightning and electricity. It was also said that his son William Franklin was also helping out with the experiment.
