1 Jan 1913 Jahr - Niels Bohr's Model of the Atom

Beschreibung:

Bohr attempted to improve Rutherford's model by putting electrons in specific orbits around the nucleus. Bohr proposed many things like, that electrons rotate around the nucleus in a nearly circular path called an orbit, he proposed that every electron in an orbit has specific amount of energy and they can within these levels of energy without losing energy, that the farther away the electron is from the nucleus, the greater the energy it has, that electrons can't exist between orbits but can move up or down to another orbit if the correct circumstances occur. He also proposed that each orbit is located a certain distance away from the nucleus, that electrons are stabler when at lower energy levels and/or closer to the nucleus, and that the order for filling the orbits with electrons is 2, 8, and 8. This theory is now known as the "planetary" model.
