This is an Act that limited immigration. At first the act favored Europeans and allowed more of them.
It made it harder for so immigrants to come because now they had to apply to become a legal citizen.
Migration chains were established. This meant that if they had family in American, they were more likely to become citizens.
They thought that these new laws would help resolve discrimination.
