The Prussian army and the British army had formed a pact that they would work together in order to subdue the French army. The French army marched into Belgium and actually defeated the Prussian army, and were going to march on to the town of Waterloo in order to fight the British army, led by the duke of Wellington. The Duke decided it would be smarter to retreat to the city of waterloo and wait for the French there. A stroke of luck came his way. A great big thunderstorm was able to postpone the date of the battle until the Prussians were able to regroup and aid them in the fight. It was in this battle that Napoleon suffered his most crippling defeat and this would also be his last battle that he would fight.
