Ashoka was an Indian emperor during the Maurya Dynasty. Controlled almost all of the Indian subcontinent for over 36 years. He was the grandson of the founder of the Maurya Dynasty, Chandragupta Maurya. He spread Buddhism and brought peace throughout India. (2.1)
