Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, one of the oldest universities of Eastern Europe, was established in 1661. Previously it was named after King John Casimir of Poland. The main building of the university, that served as a residence of Galicia Seim, was built in the end of XIX century, keeping to historicism style. This building is notable for its impressive architecture and sculptures. At the entrance, students can see monuments symbolizing Education and Labor, and building facade is decorated with sculptures embodying Love, Justice and Faith. The educational institution includes 112 departments, 19 faculties and 3 colleges. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv has a status of national monument of Ukraine.
