Beschreibung:
A narrow beam of alpha particles was aimed at a thin sheet of gold foil surrounded by a zinc sulfide coated screen to protect a flash of light when the alpha particles struck. They then noted where the flashes occured to determine if the atoms within the gold foil deflected the alpha particles.
