Bolivia became independent from Spain on August 6, 1825 as a result of the efforts by Simon Bolivar, Jose de San Martin, and Antonio Jose. The people of Bolivia were inspired by Chile gaining independence as they rebelled against the monarchy. Bolivia was later named after Simon Bolivar and became part of the Confederation of Peru and Bolivia.
