1 Jan 2015 Jahr - FURTHER DEVELOPMENT INTO TREATMENTS today there are a few more treatments that are available to thalassaemia patients. they still do monthly blood transfusions to replace the abnor- mal red blood cells, but today they now have two oral drugs that can be taken to help with the iron overload which is much more manageable for the patients which leads to a better quality of life.
