In 1994, 20,000 US military went to Haiti in Operation Uphold Democracy. The operation was trying to oversee Haiti becoming a democracy. A last minute agreement was made between the US president and Haiti, and it said that Haiti's military would give up power. Because of this agrement, there was no conflic between the two militarys.
