16 Jan 1789 Jahr - The French Revolution
Beschreibung:
The thoughts of the Enlightenment thinkers became more common, and liberalism became a recognized ideology, which led to more revolutions such as the French Revolution. The government was bankrupt, and as the king was struggling to maintain power as the Third Estate, many other people became unhappy with their government system. The classes rapidly gained more distance between them as the rich took more money from the working class citizens. Citizens fought above all for their own rights and freedoms to be made with equality. Napoleon led many of these pushes and became the first consul of France which forever altered the government of France.
The leaders of the revolution believed firmly in liberalism, and a mob mentality formed rapidly among the Third Estate. The revolution led to the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Rule of law, individual rights and freedoms, and self-interest were all main factors of the declaration, despite including only men and slavery continuing to be legal. As the revolutions went on the King and many aristocrats were considered to have committed treason under the more even classes, this led to the execution of the king.
