12 Jun 1370 Jahr - Reunification of Hafsid State

Beschreibung:

The Hafsids were previously divided into two part in which it was ruled from Tunis and Bejaïa respectively due some conflicts. This has resulted disunity among the people and weakened the state as well as given easy way for the neighboring state, the Marinids to invade the boundaries. Sultan Abu al-Abbas Ahmad II (reigned 1370–1394) was a Hafsid Caliph of Ifriqiya who just rise into power at that time. Seeing the state were in the period of disarray after the invasion of Ifriqiya led by Abu Inan Faris of the Marinid dynasty, he decided to re-unite the two branches to avoid the worst scenario happened and to fight against any Marinid invasion in future. This reunification has indeed a great decision as the Hafsid kingdom were restored to full power after that. The unity among the hafs became stronger and the state then enjoyed periods of relative stability interspersed with strife. Sultan Abu al-Abbas also managed to pacify the country even though their international relations with other countries was threatened by the Ḥafṣid pirate activity.
