The Food and Drug Association (FDA) is a federal agency that is responsible for protecting the public health. They believe that Americans consume too much sodium a day which lead to health problems such as heart failure and high blood pressure. One of their missions is to reduce the amount of sodium in prepared foods. They recommend 2,300 Mg of sodium a day.
