DPDHL / DRT teams:
- Water is the main issue due to most of water supply infrastructures were damaged during the EQ.
- All main posts (Korem/Governor Office) have their own arrangements (water tank truck), but limited to fulfill the needs of the post and some IDPs living inside the post.
- Other means of water supply will be assessed during this week.
- Fuel supply is intermittent and scarce. Most petrol stations have ran out of supply, but people are queuing.
- Fuel tank trucks (3 units at least) seen last night on the way from Mamuju to Palu, which is a very small plaster on a big wound.
- MosA trucks (6 units) carrying relief items from Makassar Regional warehouse were looted on the way to Palu, while the other batch is expected today through Palu airport.
- MoSA equipment (public kitchen car, water trucks, rangers) are mostly parked due to shortage of fuel. So limited support can be provided to affected people which makes fuel the most needed commodity together with water.
- Affected people mostly living in a tent, and some of them staying overnight in the open without any shelter.
- Nearly all stores closed as some were broken into and looted. Very few road side small shops / hawker selling whatever is left of food & drinks.
- At the airport, scores of people are queuing to board planes and escape from Palu.
- Hygiene and sanitation is a real problem. Toilets can be found in most of government offices or mosques, but no water at all.
- Internet still an issue, however voice and messaging appeared to be working this morning (Telkomsel) 0210, but the free wifi provided by Telkomsel is non discoverable since last night.
- Safety and security is becoming a real problem, as most of people did not get any food or water, still so today.
- Land transportation to PLW is still challenging and hazardous. To get rental car is difficult: roadblocks from locals.
- The closest airport with accessible road is MJU or ferry from either UPG or BPN. However, ferry schedule is not daily.
