Around 2004 the fruit was deemed a superfruit and the sales for this companies product skyrocketed from $40 million in 2002 to over $200 million in 2005. This is significant because it shows how the hype for certain food products creates a much greater demand and allows companies to bring the price of these up even though the product may not offer significant health benefits.
