Founded in 1854, is the other one of the two major political parties in the United States. The name rooted from an ideology rooted during the American Revolution. Republicans oppose higher tax rates for higher earners because they believe that is targeting people who create jobs and wealth. They also believe that each individual should take responsibilities for their own circumstances, taking a more conservative view on politics. Our current president is a republican.
