Recognition of the weight stigma became relevant in 2010, but has made a much larger impact in 2018. The authors in article 2 argue that the weight stigma has largely contributed to the obesity statistics. They believe that by edcutating health care providers about the weight stigma and how obese people feel descriminated against, they can help combat the obesity epidemic.
