The war started after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. The war lasted up until 1918. The countries in involved were Germany, Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire (the Central Powers) they fought against Great Britain, Russia, France, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States (the Allied Powers).
