By this time, ex-Confederate Proctor would successfully have transitioned from his sugar plantation in Louisiana to a new cotton plantation in Fiji. He, along with other fellow Americans, started a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan around this time which many Australian and New Zealand settlers in Fiji soon joined.
