5 Apr 1764 Jahr - Sugar Act
April 5th 1764
Beschreibung:
On the fifth of April 1764, the Parliament of Great Britain passed the American Duties Act, also known as the Sugar Act.
The British rationale was to terminate the illegal sugar trade between colonists and French and Spanish West Indies. It was also to raise revenue from taxes that were to cover the enormous debt from the war.
The Colonists reacted with Boston experimenting with Boycotts because it was an unfair increase in cost that went against local liberties and the basic rights they believed.
