Barbara Buttrick was the first female boxer to ever fight on national television. Although female boxing was not unknown to the world, it was never a thing to be seen on live television before her.

The reason this even in this category is that this is where live female boxing all started. Before female boxing was laughed upon and seen as unnatural, but once other females saw how strong Barbara had become in order to be seen, surely that must have influenced many women to stand up for their right to be equal in sports and taken seriously.

This event deserves to be along the other events in this category because it is where women was no longer seen as fragile objects. This is where women were finally seen as a force to be reckoned with and capable of standing up like a male.
