15 Apr 1989 Jahr - Tiananmen Square Protests
Beschreibung:
For years students, scholars, and labor workers were fed up with Deng Xiaoping's political and social reforms. One day they decided to protest in Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989. While most of the protests occurred in Beijing, some also took place in other cities like Shanghai. After realizing the protesters weren't stopping anytime soon, the Chinese government got involved. On June 3rd and 4th, soldiers in army tanks were sent to Tiananmen Square to get rid of the protesters. While the number of civilian deaths is not completely confirmed, the number is estimated to be around 10,000.
