- Zinc smelting is the process of converting zinc concentrates into pure zinc. Zinc smelting has historically been more difficult than the smelting of other metals, e.g. iron because, in contrast, zinc has a low boiling point.

-Discovered in the Bronze Age. The Bronze Age is a historical period characterized by the use of bronze. Bronze is a mixture of mainly copper and tin. Bronze is malleable meaning it is easy to mould into tools and weaponry.

Zinc is extracted by Electrowinning which is a special type of electrolysis.
