The Tea act granted the East India tea company a monopoly on the tea in the colonies to help bail them out and help them as a business. They did this because the company was a big contributor to their British economy. The colonists resisted in opposition once again as they felt as if they had no right to be taxed if they weren’t represented in parliament. This act eventually ended up in the Boston Tea Party which was when the Sons on Liberty and other colonists boarded the ships of the East India British tea company and dumped their loads of tea overboard.
