After reading Luther's word on how serfdom was created by man, not God. The peasants in Germany were pretty angry and decided that if God didn't say they needed to be slaves, they shouldn't have to. They revolted against the upper classes. Eventually, Martin Luther sided with the Princes and the revolt was supressed. Over 100,000 peasents were killed.
