Also know as the Italian war of 1494-1498, the invasion started when Milan caught wind of a plot between Florence and Naples to ally together to conquer Milan. The French, wary of unified city states, decide to ally with Milan to invade Italy. While he did manage to take Naples, he was forced to retreat once most of the other city-states formed the League of Venice to fight against the invasion. Charles VII was forced to returned to France, or else risk being cut off. Battles fought along the way proved to be indecisive, although their army lost many rescources. Charles VII died before he could rally another attack against Italy.
